Album Review – Whore Of Bethlehem / Ritual Of Homicide (2023)

This Blackened Brutal Death Metal horde from Texas is ready to kill armed with their third full-length album, an outpouring of black blasphemy and twisted brutality to shake the pillars of faith.

Hailing from Austin, Texas, the self-proclaimed live music capital of the world, the vile Blackened Brutal Death Metal horde Whore Of Bethlehem has been spreading their visceral brand of brutality since their inception in 2009, with their sinister barrage of riffs, blast beats, unnatural screams and heavy songwriting being influenced and inspired by classic Death and Black Metal heavyweights such as Morbid Angel, Immolation, Dissection, Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation and Belphegor, among others. Mastered by Colin Davis at Imperial Mastering, mixed at Test Tube Audio, and displaying a sick artwork by Jon Zig, the band’s third full-length opus, titled Ritual Of Homicide, is an outpouring of black blasphemy and twisted brutality to shake the pillars of faith masterfully brought into being by James VanDenBerg on vocals, Ryan Sylvie and Phil King on the guitars, Alan Berryman on bass, and Sam Axelrad on drums, invoking the sound of violence and wickedness with a heart sworn to the black and a soul pledged to hell.

Stygian guitar lines permeate the air in the opening track Enlightenment Through Pain, exploding into a darkened, sinister feast of brutality and gore led by the pulverizing drums by Sam; and putting the pedal to the metal and delivering old school Death Metal with some melodic and progressive nuances, it’s time for the brutal Nails in Your Coffin, with James barking nonstop in the name of evil. Then enhancing their heaviness and obscurity the band offers us all the title-track Ritual of Homicide, where Ryan and Phil are bestial with their axes, cutting our skin deep in true headbanging fashion, followed by Vermin, an infernal, in-your-face Death Metal onrush with no shenanigans nor any other artificial elements, with Sam kicking ass on drums supported by the rumbling bass by Alan. The sinister interlude Gateway will darken our minds before the band comes ripping in Sermon of the Malignant Spirit, the most demonic and obscure of all tracks showcasing an amazing job done by the entire band, in special their guitar duo with their sulfurous riffs and solos.

More of their unrelenting music comes in the form of Out of Body, with James roaring like a maniac while Sam dictates the song’s evil pace, and James keeps hammering our cranial skulls with his brutal drumming in Disembodied, absolutely heavy from start to finish with their guitars and bass generating an unfriendly ambience perfect for raising our horns high. The flammable guitars by Ryan and Phil will pierce your soul in Monolith of Cremation while James crushes his drums as usual in a great display of classic Death Metal, resulting in an invitation to some brutal slammin’ activity; whereas lastly the quintet will demolish our fragile bodies with an avalanche of Death Metal titled Pseudochrist, a more than exciting bonus track bringing forward frantic beats, acid riffs and gruesome vociferations.

The guys from Whore Of Bethlehem are eagerly waiting for you on Facebook and on Instagram with news, tour dates and more of their depraved music, and of course don’t forget to also stream their sick creations on Spotify. The  dark and heavy-as-hell Ritual Of Homicide, which is on sale from Comatose Music’s BandCamp page or webstore, as well as from Apple Music and Amazon (and you can also click HERE for all things Whore Of Bethlehem), is definitely not recommended for the lighthearted, bringing endless chaos, blasphemy and violence to our avid ears and, therefore, cementing the band’s evil legacy in the underground scene.

Album Review – Depraved Murder / Unethical Terrestrial Collapse (2023)

In the fecund swamps of East Java, this venomous Brutal Death Metal entity attacks once again with their bestial third full-length album.

In the fecund swamps of East Java, the ruthless Brutal Death Metal entity Depraved Murder has been pouring blood, tears and black sorcery into their cauldron of nightmares since their inception in 2011, adding bone and bile to the accompaniment of whispered incantations, conjuring up the soundtrack to the end of the world. Mixed and mastered by the arcane master Indra Braille at Texas Sicklab Studio, and displaying a sick artwork spawned from the twisted visions of Aghy Purakusuma, the band’s third full-length opus, entitled Unethical Terrestrial Collapse, is a firestorm to usher in the end times demonically brought into being by vocalist, guitarist and bassist Ogy together with drummer Rama Maulana, seething with a grim and sordid life and a pulsating blackness that exudes fear and disgust, resulting in an intimidating manifesto of brutality tailored for fans of Devourment, Skinless, Suffocation and Pathology.

Otherworldly background sounds will haunt your damned soul before the duo smashes our cranial skulls in Entering into Calamity, where Ogy barks and roars in the name of gore supported by the pulverizing drums by Rama in a demented display of Death Metal, whereas The Anguish of Dystopian is a straightforward, no shenanigans Brutal Death Metal extravaganza by the duo sounding and feeling very intricate and demented form start to finish, with the colossal beats by Rama making the earth tremble. Even heavier and more insane than its predecessors thanks to the inhumane guttural by Ogy, False Adoration will inspire you to slam into the circle pit manically; and the duo shows absolutely no mercy for our bodies and souls in Mass Murder Existence, with Ogy kicking some serious ass with his roars, infernal riffage and rumbling bass lines, elevating the song’s truculence and brutality to the second power.

There’s no time to breathe as those Indonesian marauders keep crushing our heads with their Brutal Death Metal in Unmanifest Void, fulminating and evil from the very first second with Rama showcasing all his fury and dexterity behind his drums, while investing in a more doomed sonority, Ogy and Rama will darken the skies in The Pinnacle of Vile Conceit, again exploding in their traditional Brutal Death Metal sound. Then back to their more vicious mode it’s time to slam into the circle pit to the sound of Relentless Brutality, where Ogy’s deranged roars and riffs are flawlessly complemented by Rama’s stone crushing drums, followed by Unethical Terrestrial Collapse, another three intense minutes of Brutal Death Metal for our avid ears where the bass jabs by Ogy sound more metallic than ever. Lastly, their final breathe of animosity and gore comes in the form of Apocryphal Hymns, with Rama dictating the song’s devilish pace while Ogy gnalrs the song’s words deeply nonstop.

In case you would like to show the guys from Depraved Murder all your support and admiration, you can give them a shout on Facebook and on Instagram, stream all of their gory and evil creations on Spotify, and above all that, purchase a copy of Unethical Terrestrial Collapse from Comatose Music’s BandCamp or webstore, from Apple Music, or from several other retailers out there such as ImportCDs.com and Merchbar.com. As this gruesome, vile album has just been released from its infernal pit, there’s no time left to pray. This is the end, and it’s indeed a blood-soaked one.

Album Review – Imperial Execration / Commanding Satan’s Crusades (2022)

A Colombian Death Metal horde based in the UK is inviting us all to join Satan’s crusades to the sound of their pustulent psalms of inverted sanctity.

At the spearhead of a new assault upon the bulwarks of civilization comes the barbaric Brutal Death Metal/Deathslam horde of Imperial Execration, armed with the rotting horror of their debut album Commanding Satan’s Crusades. Formed in 2019 by two Colombian musicians now relocated to the UK, drummer Ruben Jaramillio (Ataud, Engulfed In Abomination), and guitarist and bassist Eduardo Camargo (Ataud, Goreinhaled, Despondency), this putrid platoon of Satan’s soldiers is completed by the bestial bellows of the infamous Colombian vocalist Oscar “Mr. Oscarnivore T-666” Macias (of Carnivore Diprosopus), together creating six pustulent psalms of inverted sanctity and added to that grim order of service a cover song that exhales death and gore. Mixed and mastered by Tom Bradfield at Grindethic Records, and displaying a sick artwork by Venezuelan artist John Quevedo Janssens, Commanding Satan’s Crusades will leave no doubt about the future, as there is no light at the end of the tunnel, there is no redemption and absolutely no resurrection, being therefore recommended for lovers of the devastating music by Suffocation, Gorgasm, Devangelic and Disentomb, just to name a few.

Summoning of the Ancient Hordes sounds utterly putrid, gory and demolishing from the very first second, and it’s impressive how just three guys can make so much noise. Moreover, Oscar’s deep barks sound and feel inhumane throughout the entire song (and album), accompanied by the classic blast beats by Ruben. Commandments of the Age of Darkness is another onrush of first-class Brutal Death Metal that will decimate your damned soul during its three demented minutes, with Eduardo doing a fantastic job with both his riffs and bass lines, and those three Colombians are ready to pound our cranial skull to dust with the venomous Throne of Sadistic Abominations, a lecture in Brutal Death Metal that lives up to the legacy of the genre with Oscar vomiting the song’s dark words majestically.

In His Ominous Presence the band keeps the insanity and blasphemy of the album at an unimaginable level, with Ruben being absolutely bestial behind his drums in this ode to darkness, and he keeps hammering his drums in Lords of Tyrannical Perversion, with Eduardo’s evil riffage providing Oscar with exactly what he needs to bark nonstop. There’s still more fuel to burn to the sound of Victory of the Stygian Empire, with its cryptic intro evolving into a brutal assault of classic Death Metal led by the gruesome vociferations by Oscar. Put differently, it can’t get any heavier than this, flowing into their cover version for Dehumanizer’s classic tune Condemned (check the original version HERE, from their 1998 demo Prophecies Foretold). Needless to say, Imperial Execration’s version is just as demonic and obscure, with Eduardo kicking some serious ass with both his riffs and bass punches.

The malevolent, hellish Death Metal played by Imperial Excretion in Commanding Satan’s Crusades can be appreciated in all of its glory on YouTube and on Spotify, but of course let’s show those Colombian metallers our true support by purchasing their fulminating album from the band’s own BandCamp page, from the Comatose Music BandCamp page or webstore as a CD or as an amazing CD + shirt + sticker bundle, and from several other locations such as Discogs and Barnes & Noble. They are also eager to hear what you have to say about their newborn vile creations on Facebook and on Instagram, inviting us all to join Satan’s crusades to the sound of their thrilling, sulfurous Death Metal, and I’m sure we’ll have a very good time banging our heads manically with them.

Best moments of the album: Summoning of the Ancient Hordes, Throne of Sadistic Abominations and Victory of the Stygian Empire.

Album Review – Shuriken Cadaveric Entwinement / Constructing The Cataclysm (2022)

A demonic American duo is back in action with eight songs of fiercely implacable Death Metal bristling with riffs like lethal weapons and devilish growls, inspired by the history and mythology of the samurai.

Drawing on the complex history and vibrant mythology of the samurai, the powerful warrior caste of feudal Japan, Gastonia, North Carolina-based outfit Shuriken Cadaveric Entwinement has carved out their own kingdom of intense and characterful Death Metal, and although the demonic duo formed of multi-instrumentalist Jordan Varela (Lust Of Decay) and vocalist Jay Barnes (Cesspool Of Vermin) unveiled their second album Resuscitating The Vile almost a decade ago and may have fallen on their swords, consigning the project to the dust of ages, their third full-length opus, entitled Constructing The Cataclysm, is about to see the light of day. Recorded by Mike Clevenger at Audio Helm Studios, and displaying a fantastic samurai-inspired artwork by Andreas Christanetoff of Armaada Art, the album features eight songs of fiercely implacable Death Metal bristling with riffs like lethal weapons and devilish growls and howls, taking the duo to new levels of intensity and sheer class.

Get ready to be transported to feudal Japan before Jordan begins decimating his drums in the hellish Insurrection of the Diabolic while Jay growls and roars like a rabid beast, offering us all unrelenting and extremely vile Death Metal that goes straight to your jugular. Then blasting old school Death Metal the likes of Morbid Angel and Deicide it’s time for the duo to crush us all in Breaching the Gates of Tranquility, where Jordan is not only an evil machine behind his drums but his riffage is also caustic just the way we like it; and there’s no time to breathe as Jay and Jordan continue to hammer our heads with their Brutal Death Metal in Insidious Spiritual Incarceration, a fantastic option to slam into the pit to the wicked, demented vociferations by Jay. And Awaiting the Infinity of Oblivion doesn’t have a single moment of peace or boredom; quite the contrary, it’s an endless Death Metal onrush that will leave you completely disoriented when it’s over.

Jordan once again gives a lecture in caustic riffs and blast beats in Irrevocable Siege of the Abominable, offering Jay exactly what he needs to infernally roar the song’s dark words nonstop, being therefore perfect for some good old headbanging, whereas in Fragmenting the Profane the duo adds some welcome elements from Thrash Metal to their core sonority, resulting in another riff-fueled devastation by the duo tailored for igniting some serious circle pits at a live concert or festival. The second to last explosion of intricacy and rage by Shuriken Cadaveric Entwinement, entitled Tribunal of the Oni, keeps the album scorching hot, with Jordan sounding fantastic with both his riffs and metallic bass, followed by the title-track Constructing the Cataclysm, putting a sick ending to the album by blending traditional Japanese sounds in the background with the fury of American Death Metal, while also leaving our corpses lying in the battlefield like deceased samurais after all is said and done.

The metal samurais Jay Barnes and Jordan Varela are waiting for you to join them in the battlefront by following them on Facebook, by streaming all of their wicked compositions on Spotify, and mainly by purchasing a copy of the excellent Constructing The Cataclysm from the Comatose Music’s BandCamp page or webstore (as a regular CD or a CD + shirt + sticker bundle), as well as from Apple Music and other retailers such as Barnes & Noble and Plastic Head Megastore. Having said all that, instead o committing a seppuku or hara-kiri, use your katana for something a lot more fun such as raising it in the air while banging your head to the music blasted by Shuriken Cadaveric Entwinement in their high-octane new album, honoring all metalheads that came before us.

Best moments of the album: Insidious Spiritual Incarceration, Fragmenting the Profane and Constructing the Cataclysm.

Worst moments of the album: None.

Album Review – Sijjeel / Salvation Within Insanity (2022)

From the morbid purgatory that lies between the edge of sanity and the shores of madness comes a vicious Death Metal entity bringing forth disease, destruction and death.

From the morbid purgatory that lies between the edge of sanity and the shores of madness comes the furious, brutal Death Metal of a vicious entity known as Sijjeel. Hatched in the desert sands of Saudi Arabia nearly a decade ago, more specifically in 2013 in the city of Damman, the capital of the Eastern Province, the eyes of Sijjeel soon turned to Europe to find the warped souls that could complete the three-headed beast, with vocalist Floor Van Kuijk (Carnifloor, Focal Dystonia, Korpse) and bassist Lukas Kaminski (Stillbirth, Placenta Powerfist) being chosen to join guitarist Hussain Akbar and bring forth disease, destruction and death. Mixed and mastered by Floor himself at GLDCHN Studios, and displaying a hellish artwork by Indonesian artist Rudi Gorgingsuicide, the hellbound tour de force of terror Salvation Within Insanity is the first full-length effort by such demented trio, following up on the insanity found in their 2020 debut EP Cyclopean Megaliths and, therefore, being highly recommended for admirers of Defeated Sanity, Incinerate and Twitch Of The Death Nerve, among other bands that worship brutality above all things in heavy music.

The thunderous, menacing bass by Lukas will hammer your head mercilessly in the opening track Isolation Behind Unrealism, bringing forward pure, unfiltered Death Metal for lovers of the genre, with Floor barking rabidly amidst the band’s sonic devastation, whereas Inverted Contentment in Salvation is a beyond infernal display of the band’s ruthless aggression in the form of Death Metal, with Hussain firing razor-edged riffs from his axe while the programmed (but very organic) drums sound like a stone crusher. There’s not a single second of peace as those metallers keep pulverizing our ears in The Affliction of Deteriorating Minds, another solid display of Brutal Slammin’ Death Metal by the trio spearheaded by the sick guttural by Floor; and get ready to be smashed like an insect by the bludgeoning riffs and drums by Hussain in Mental Paralysis, also showcasing tons of progressiveness and groove flowing from Lukas’ demented bass jabs.

The trio continues to crush our senses in Climbing Into the Abyss, exhaling brutality, rage and speed, with Hussain once again displaying a spot-on job done on the guitar, and the music gets darker and more infernal as time goes by ending in a thrilling manner. Then they show no mercy for our souls with the fulminating Departing from Human Nature, where we’re treated to the demented beats by Lukas while Floor roars deeply nonstop, resulting in the epitome of the band’s brutality and gore; and their second to last explosion of vile Death Metal, entitled Indignation Overcame Me, brings forward endless savagery thanks to the infernal riffage by Hussain, smashing their sonic weapons like true beasts in the name of extreme music. Lastly, intricate, Stygian sounds ignite the closing hurricane Inflection to Thee Smut, offering us all another very good reason to slam into the circle pit, with Floor’s inhumane growls walking hand in hand with the blast beats by Lukas.

You can get to know more about Sijjeel, their tour dates, plans for the future and so on on Facebook and on Instagram, and of course in order to support the underground you should definitely purchase a copy of Salvation Within Insanity from Comatose Music’s BandCamp page or webstore. Relentless and absolutely punishing from start to finish, Salvation Within Insanity is indeed a fantastic display of Extreme Metal made in Saudi Arabia, proving once and for all our beloved metal music knows no barriers, inviting people from all over the world to slam into the pit and to raise our horns to bands like Sijjeel forever and ever. That’s how Death Metal is supposed to be, and if the band keeps firing albums like Salvation Within Insanity in the coming years such intense genre will get even stronger than what it already is.

Album Review – Intricated / Apocalyptic Metamorphosis (2021)

From the sin swamped streets of Bangkok to the frenzied furnace of your nightmares, Intricated are coming for you armed with ten tracks of precision putridity and bludgeoning, blasting brutality.

Twisting the very fabric of reality, tearing through the layers of existence and warping everything you know to be true, Bangkok, Thailand’s own Brutal Death Metal unity Intricated has pushed themselves to the limit in their brand new album entitled Apocalyptic Metamorphosis, a worthy follow-up to their 2016 debut effort The Vortex Of Fatal Depravity. Mixed by the band itself, mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music, and displaying a sick artwork by Japanese illustrator Toshihiro Egawa, Apocalyptic Metamorphosis brings to our ears ten tracks of precision putridity and bludgeoning, blasting brutality carefully crafted by vocalist Panyawat Sridee, guitarist Jeeraset Paemongkol, bassist Wasumit Wongwai and drummer Pratchaya Phadungthin, resulting in a monstrous opus of chaos unleashed recommended for fans of Suffocation, Cryptopsy and Deeds Of Flesh, among others torchbearers of extreme sonic savagery.

An ominous, sinister intro titled The Sixth Invisible Light of the Unobserved Heterogeneity Dimension opens the gates of hell for Intricated to kill with Ruthless Domination, a pulverizing Deathslam onrush led by the blast beats by Pratchaya and the deep and utterly cadaverous growls by Panyawat while Jeeraset and Wasumit show no mercy for their stringed weapons; whereas Impaling the Emperor is even more infernal than its predecessor, with Pratchaya sounding beyond infuriated on drums. What a solid display of Brutal Death Metal by the band, sounding perfect for slamming into the pit like a demented beast, and there’s a lot more devastation by Intricated with Summoning the Abyzou, where they kick some serious ass with their pulverizing Death Metal spiced up by the razor-edged riffage by Jeeraset. And An Experimentation of Genocide (Unit 731) brings forward two and a half minutes of brutality, gore and violence in the form of extreme music, where it’s impressive how Panyawat’s vocals get deeper and more gruesome as the music progresses.

There’s no time to breathe as the quartet continues to smash our cranial skulls mercilessly in Flagitious Meditation, with Wasumit making the earth tremble with his bass supported by the always demented drums by Pratchaya, making an instant bridge with the also bludgeoning The Manifest of Apocalyptic Variation, highly recommended for breaking your neck headbanging with Jeeraset once again exhaling malignancy from his axe. Enigmatic Portal of Demise is a lecture in Brutal Death Metal by Intricated, showcasing all elements we love in the genre including of course the bestial vociferations by Panyawat and the complex but always infernal beats by Pratchaya; and keeping the album at a high level of animosity it’s time for the instrumental Interdimensional Being…, presenting a solid work done by the quartet (albeit I miss their evil growls). Finally it’s time for Iniquitous Creatures, a hellish, absolutely heavy and devilish creation bringing to our ears six minutes of pure savagery masterfully brought forth by the band, with Panyawat leading his horde with his wicked, deranged gnarls until the song’s Stygian ending.

The apocalyptic world of Death Metal ruled by Intricated can be better appreciated by following the band on Facebook and on Instagram for news and tour dates, and of course by purchasing Apocalyptic Metamorphosis from the Comatose Music BandCamp page or webstore as a regular CD or as a CD + shirt + sticker bundle, as well as from several other online locations including Barnes & Noble, Waterloo Records, Monster Music & Movies, Schoolkids Records, and Record Archive. From the sin swamped streets of Bangkok to the frenzied furnace of your nightmares, Intricated are coming for you armed with their beast of an album, proving Thailand can easily become one of the epicenters of underground Death Metal worldwide.

Album Review – Anthropophagus Depravity / Apocalypto (2021)

Prepare for a new age of wicked superstition and the rebirth of old and hungry gods to the sound of the debut album by this Indonesian Death Metal tribe.

3.5rating

anthropophagus-depravity-apocalypto-2021Indonesia is a festering sore of Brutal Death Metal, infected with an array of bands that explore the outer limits of savagery and sickness just like Yogyakarta-based horde Anthropophagus Depravity. Writhing like maggots in a wound, these pioneers of putridity eat their way deeper and deeper into the darkness, entwining shuddering heaviness with chilling atmosphere and nightmarish brutality. Their debut full length album, entitled Apocalypto, is a torrent of overwhelming, suffocating horror that feeds upon the vicious rituals of the ancient Mayan religion, with its furious riffs and relentless blasts seeming to force themselves down your throat, choking you with a pitiless intensity. Armed with furious riffs, relentless blasts and nerve-shredding atmosphere, the band comprised of Pandu Herlambang on vocals, Eko Aryo Widodo and Rico Zerico on the guitars, Cahyono Hari Wijayanto on bass and Sahrul Ramadhan on drums is ready to kill with their shuddering heaviness, turning their new opus into a must-have for admirers of the music by Devangelic, Relics of Humanity, Disentomb and Analepsy.

The intro Hymn to Apocalypto kicks off with the vile riffage by Eko and Rico while Sahrul already showcases his rage behind his drums, with its tribalistic second half setting the tone for the Deathslam hymn Forecasting Ruination, with Pandu roaring like a demented beast from the underworld and, therefore, sounding perfect for slamming into the pit to the fulminating beats by Sahrul and the classic Death Metal riffs by the band’s guitar duo. Then a quick cinematic start explodes into sheer brutality in the visceral The Mayan Disaster, continuing their path of devastation, blood and fear, while Eko and Rico’s guitars are nicely supported by Cahyono’s infernal bass punches; and a gruesome gnarl by Pandu ignites another feast of dementia entitled Temple of Sacrifice, with Sahrul showing no mercy for his drums (and consequently for our necks) in a great display of contemporary Brutal Death Metal.

If you think those Indonesian metallers are tired of slamming our heads with their brutal music you’re absolutely wrong, as they offer us the straightforward, in-your-face tune Immolation for the Sacred God, showcasing their usual violence in the form of guttural growls, slashing riffs and pulverizing drums; whereas Pandu sounds even more furious than before in Escape from the Dead Lands, accompanied by the hellish kitchen crafted by Sahrul and Cahyrono. Their second to last Apocalyptic Death Metal extravaganza comes in the form of Ruthless Nation Perished, with Pandu roaring and gurgling rabidly from start to finish, or in other words, it’s another fantastic option for crushing your spinal cord into the circle pit, not to mention its disturbing ending, I might say, flowing into Mantra Solar Eclipse, a six-minute ritualistic, demolishing Death Metal creation by Anthropophagus Depravity that will haunt your souls for all eternity, with Pandu taking the lead once again with his wicked roaring, all spiced up by a sick guitar solo to properly end the album.

anthropophagus-depravity-2021The vile and infernal Death Metal blasted by Anthropophagus Depravity in Apocalypto can be appreciated in full on YouTube and on Spotify, but of course in order to take part in their demonic rituals you should definitely purchase the album from Comatose Music’s BandCamp page or webstore, as well as from Amazon and other retailers like Barnes & Noble. In addition, don’t forget to follow this talented Indonesian tribe on Facebook and on Instagram, and to subscribe to their YouTube channel for more of their pulverizing creations. Having said all that, prepare for a new age of wicked superstition and the rebirth of old and hungry gods, and of course for slamming into the circle pit like a rabid beast, to the sound of Apocalypto.

Album Review – Exterminated / The Genesis of Genocide (2021)

It’s time for total extermination to the sound of the skull-crushing Death Metal blasted by this unrelenting duo hailing from the Philippines.

3.0rating

exterminated-the-genesis-of-genocide-2021Beneath the soft skin of the human animal seethes a mass of venom and vitriol, a ravenous beast that constantly tests the chains of restraint that bind it. That’s the core essence from the infernal music blasted by the duo Myke Pardo (Anal Fissure) on vocals and Ace Estandian (Anal Fissure, Guillotined) on the guitars, known as the ruthless Brutal Death Metal/Deathslam two-headed beast Exterminated. Forged in the fires of Dasmariñas, a city located in the province of Cavite, in the Philippines in 2016, Exterminated have just unleashed upon us all their first full-length album, entitled The Genesis of Genocide, the follow-up to their 2018 EP Elements of Obliteration, being highly recommended for fans of Cerebral Bore, Chancroid, Guttural Secrete and Pathology. The Genesis of Genocide is an intimidating explosion of feral hate that taps into the vein of lust and violence that runs through the human condition like a seam of black blood, representing a new high in their career as Exterminated push the limits of sonic extremity and skull-crushing Death Metal to the breaking point.

The duo’s gruesome Death Metal attack begins in full force with Systematic Holocaust, where Myke sounds like a deranged beast on vocals, vomiting the song’s lyrics while Ace slhreds his stringed axe nonstop, not to mention how organic and primeval the programmed drums sound and feel, and continuing their path of devastation it’s time for the Deathslam extravaganza Impulsive Decimation, where they need less than three minutes to pulverize us all with their infernal music, once again inviting us to smash our cranial skulls into the circle pit. There’s not a single second to breathe as Exterminated fire another Brutal Death Metal tune titled Detrimentum, showcasing the trademark guttural roars by Myke accompanied by the sick riffage by Ace, and let’s keep slamming to the sound of Murderous Intent, where the song’s demented beats will hammer your heads mercilessly while Myke keeps doing what he does best, which is barking the song’s sick words viciously.

Myke’s roars get deeper and more bestial in the pulverizing Grave for the Slaughtered, where Ace doesn’t stop delivering sulfurous riffs, therefore resulting in a lecture in raw, primeval Deathslam tailored for admirers of the genre; whereas in Inevitable Annihilation we’re treated to some wicked backing vocals which enhance Myke’s putrid performance even more, while the instrumental pieces go straight to your jugular. Are you tired already? Because those Filipino death metallers will keep crushing your souls in Chaotic Dimension of the Insane, perfect for headbanging to the sound of the ass-kicking riffs by Ace, and there’s no sign of them slowing down, as Ace continues to kill on the guitar while Myke growls and gnarls in great Death Metal fashion in Abyss of the Dead, also offering some interesting breaks and variations, and  the duo offers us sheer madness and violence to properly close the album with The Art of Mutilation, again displaying a dynamic (and vile) alternation between deeper growling and demonic screeches.

exterminated-2021Although Brutal Death Metal is not usually recommended for the average rock and metal listener, the music by Exterminated might be exactly what you need to get your first taste of such distinct subgenre of extreme music, heading into the circle pit like the true metalhead that you are. Hence, don’t forget to show your support to those talented and unrelenting Filipino metallers by following them on Facebook, and by grabbing your copy of The Genesis of Genocide from Comatose Music’s BandCamp page or webstore, as well as from Monster Music & Movies. Myke and Ace are not among us to only prove Filipino extreme music can be just as brutal and visceral as the classics found in North America and Europe, but also to provide us another excellent soundtrack for the inevitable end of the world as we know it, or maybe I should say the genesis of the extermination of the human race.

Album Review – Texas Murder Crew / Everyone’s Last Breath EP (2020)

Capturing the music of the flies buzzing to the sight and stench of inhuman cruelty, this Dallas, Texas-based act will pulverize your senses with the boiling, filthy sound of their debut opus.

Capturing the music of the flies buzzing to the sight and stench of inhuman cruelty in their wicked creations, Dallas, Texas-based Brutal Death Metal/Deathslam six-piece act Texas Murder Crew will pulverize your senses with the boiling, filthy sound of their debut EP entitled Everyone’s Last Breath, drowning you as you reach in agonized desperation for a hand held out in pity. Featuring the dual guttural vocals of Logan Ross and Brent Wells, offering differing shades of sickening brutality, a thick wave of riffs by guitarist Kevin Clark (Devourment, Kill Everything), crushing foundations by bassist Timothy Dewayne Ratcliff and drummer Benjie Quezada, and hallucinatory shadows and the buzzing of the flies by Terry Burleson and his samplers, Everyone’s Last Breath is a must-have album for fans of underground brutality and rage, sounding absolutely verminous and gruesome, and having your body twitching, hungry for violence throughout its 17 minutes of unrelenting extreme music.

As soon as you hit play, a truly cinematic, somber intro grows in intensity until all hell breaks loose, preparing the listener for the pulverizing Curse of Humanity, with Brent and Logan making a bestial vocal duo with their sick gnarls and screeches while Kevin and Timothy decimate their stringed weapons mercilessly, resulting in a Brutal Slamming Death Metal avalanche infused with tons of groove and infinite aggressiveness. Destroy the Witness is another devastating lesson in Death Metal where Logan fires his Cannibal Corpse-inspired riffs while Timothy and Benjie shake the foundations of the earth with their thunderous instruments, not to mention how inhumane the vocals by both Brent and Logan sound, and if you thought they were going to slow down their savagery you’re utterly wrong, as the band keeps smashing our skulls in Beneath My Feet, offering us all three minutes of putrid, wicked Death Metal where Kevin once again takes the lead with his sick riffage. The band’s demented vocal duo continues to bark and vomit their gruesome words in the title-track Everyone’s Last Breath, with Benjie sounding like a stone crusher on drums, or in other words, this is a dense and cohesive Death Metal feast that perfectly represents the band’s dexterity and passion for brutality. Finally, Terry kicks off the closing tune Stronghold with his sinister samplers, being gradually joined by the violent sounds blasted by his bandmates, requiring only a little less than two minutes to annihilate us all.

There are multiple locations where you can put your dirty and blood-soaked hands on Everyone’s Last Breath, such as the band’s own webstore, Comatose Music’s BandCamp and webstore, Amazon, and other alternative options such as Randy’s Record Shop and Saturn. Also, let’s show the guys from Texas murder Crew our total support by following them on Facebook and on Instagram to know more about their music, tour dates and plans for the future, keeping the fires of Brutal Death Metal alive for many years to come and, of course, making sure those talented death metallers will keep delivering their wicked and brutal creations until their very last breath.

Album Review – Architectural Genocide / Cordyceptic Anthropomorph (2020)

A sickening, slamming and brutal album of Death Metal from the always fertile breeding ground of Texas, courtesy of an up-and-coming band ready to unleash hell upon humanity.

Texas has always been a fertile breeding ground for the most brutal extremes of Death Metal, and Houston’s own Architectural Genocide have been proving themselves a match for all the illustrious, gore-soaked names who have gone before them since their inception in 2017, unleashing hell upon humanity with their debut full-length opus entitled Cordyceptic Anthropomorph, the sound of sheer brute force within a maelstrom of violence and pulverized flesh. Mixed and mastered by renowned Italian drummer Davide “BrutalDave” Billia (Beheaded, Antropofagus, Hour Of Penance), and featuring a brutal and Stygian artwork by American musician and designer Jon Zig (Images of Violence, Deeds of Flesh, Relics of Humanity, Viral Load), Cordyceptic Anthropomorph is highly recommended for fans of the absolute chaos blasted by bands like Disentomb, Gorgasm and Visceral Disgorge, showcasing all the undeniable talented of lead singer Daniel Brockway, guitarist Jonathan Blake, bassist Matt Day and drummer Nat Conner, and of course their deep passion for what people like to call “Brutal Texan Death Metal”.

It’s time to slam into the circle pit like there’s no tomorrow to the sound of the opening track Spires of Mangled Tissue, bringing to our ears brutal devastation from the very first second, with Nat sounding infernal with his blast beats and fills while Daniel barks like a rabid beast, resulting in a freaking heavy extravaganza from start to finish. Then in Hallucinogenic Demise an ominous intro led by Jonathan’s wicked guitar lines and Matt’s low-tuned bass evolves into modern and furious Death Metal with Daniel’s inhuman screeches adding a touch of dementia to the overall result, with Nat once again crushing his drums manically; and they continue their onrush of dark and hellish sounds in Dominate and Proliferate, where Jonathan extracts sheer violence from his stringed axe in great Brutal Slamming Death Metal fashion. And the title-track Cordydeptic Anthropomorph lives up to the legacy of both old school and modern-day Death Metal, sounding and feeling as brutal and technical as it can be thanks to the amazing job done by the band’s stringed duo, not to mention Nat’s demented and intricate beats.

And the boys from Architectural Genocide keep smashing our skulls and spinal cords with the visceral and infuriated Gorge on Deceased, the perfect depiction of how vile but at the same time melodic and technical the quartet can be, offering a few interesting breaks and variations while Daniel’s deep guttural roars continue to reverberate in the air. Then Nat takes the lead once again in the berserk Pleasure Induced by Agony, sounding like a stone crusher on drums in what’s perhaps the heavier and most vicious of all songs from the album, with Jonathan and Matt showing no mercy for their strings (nor for our necks, of course). The second to last blast of malevolent Death Metal by this skillful four-piece horde comes in the form of Abolishment of Human Existence, where Matt and Nat are in absolute sync with their respective bass punches and demonic beats and fills, providing Daniel all he needs to shine with his deep vociferations, whereas Burgeoning Necrosis is a fantastic and pulverizing closing tune, or in other words, the epitome of everything the band stands for, showcasing the classic, hammering drums by Nat and the always brutal shredding by Jonathan.

If you have what it takes to face the Brutal Texan Death Metal assault fired by Architectural Genocide in their debut installment, all you have to do is go to Comatose Music’s BandCamp or webstore, as well as to Discogs, to put your hands on such ruthless album of extreme music. Hence, don’t forget to show your true support to the guys from Architectural Genocide by following them on Facebook and on Instagram, and by listening to their music on Spotify. The architect of genocide is among us to bring us all a whole new level of sickening, slamming and brutality with Cordyceptic Anthropomorph, proving once again why the underground is and will always be the dark lair (and consequently our endless source) for ass-kicking Death Metal, and if you’re in Texas then the awesomeness coming from that is even higher, no doubt about that.
