Album Review – Necrambulant / Upheaval of Malignant Necrambulance (2025)

Enjoy this relentless record presented as an anthology of horror, gore, and slamming Brutal Death Metal by an amazing American band that describes their sound as “Inhuman Slam Grind”.

A relentless record presented as an anthology of all that the band represents, horror, gore, and slamming Brutal Death Metal, incorporating a full arsenal of Death Metal and Deathslam to further define their self-described sound of “Inhuman Slam Grind”, Upheaval of Malignant Necrambulance, the sophomore opus by Phoenix, Arizona-based horde Necrambulant, has something to offer on many levels of thematic brutality, including zombies, serial killers, cannibals, sci-fi, and Warhammer. Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Xander Bridge, produced by the band itself, and displaying a venomous cover art by Nev of Gruesome Graphx, the new album by vocalist Andy “Bonemeat” York, guitarist Ron Clark, bassist Trent Pittard and drummer Matt Riena is perfect for fans of Devourment, Kraanium, Cephalotripsy, Cannibal Corpse, and Abominable Putridity, bringing an overdose of heaviness and gore to admirers of the heaviest side of extreme music.

A horrid, desperate scream ignites the band’s overdose of brutality in Amalgamation of Gresome Curdling Ambonination, led by the inhumane gnarling by Andy in the best “BREEEEEE!” style possible, whereas the slashing guitar lines by Ron walk hand in hand with the primeval beats by Matt in Inhumane Creophagus Repulsion, a vile blast of Brutal Death Metal violence. The beautifully titled Catastrophic Inversion of Stellar Harmony Collapsing the Web of all Universal Matter into the Colossal Gaping Maw of the Widening Void that Heralds the Dawn of Absolute Unreality (Epoch.0) is highly recommended for some demented slamming into the pit, with Andy sounding even more putrid and demonic on vocals, flowing into the also demented Barbarian Brute Force Annihilation (BFTBG), where Matt hammers his drums nonstop. Their Brutal Death Metal attack goes on in the heavy-as-hell Sentenced to a Guttonous Pit, spearheaded by the trademark BREEEEEE! vociferations by Andy; and they show no mercy for our putrid, decaying bodies in Pestilential Ascendancy, offering more of their first-class, infernal riffs and blast beats.

Ineffable Tormenting Possession brings forward two and a half minutes of undisputed malignancy in the form of heavy-as-hell extreme music led by the crushing drums by Matt, followed by the also deranged Chunked Pus Chowder, carrying a sick name for an overdose of deep guttural roars, venomous riffs and classic, deadly drums, with Andy once again barking and vomiting the song’s lyrics in great fashion. The title-track Upheaval of Malignant Necrambulance will burst our ears with more of the band’s undisputed Brutal Death Metal sounds, whereas Coffin Meat offers the same level of savagery, albeit not as inspired (Andy’s depraved guttural is still there, of course). And last but not least, the dirty riffs by Ron and the metallic bass by Trent will pierce your damned soul in Self-Biologic Carnivorous Cannibalism, ending the album on a beyond visceral note.

“This new album is just a relentless barrage of slamming brutal death metal. We strived for a no-bullshit / no-filler tracklist that will just pummel the listener with heaviness. We spent the past two years working on fine-tuning these songs to be a proper representation of our original moniker of ‘Inhuman Slam Grind’. We hope this new album is something that fans of our earlier material will appreciate and something fresh for the newer fans as well. Expect a full audial assault of horror, gore, and guttural slamming sickness the Necrambulant way,” says the band, and you can join them inside their demented mosh pit by following them on Facebook and on Instagram, by streaming their music on any streaming platforms like Spotify, and above all that, by purchasing the bludgeoning Upheaval of Malignant Necrambulance from the Gore House Productions’ BandCamp or by clicking HERE, or you can also click HERE for all things Necrambulant. This is “Inhuman Slam Grind” at its finest, bringing horror, violence, blood and gore to your miserable life, and may this amazing slamming band from Phoenix continue to blast our ears with the brutality found in their unrelenting new album for many decades to come.

Album Review – Stages of Decomposition / Raptures of Psychopathy (2024)

This Los Angeles-based Brutal Death Metal outfit will crush you with their sophomore opus, an eleven-track beast that delves into the disturbed minds of those falling into psychopathic tendencies.

Known for their massive and impactful delivery of extreme brutality, Los Angeles, California-based Brutal Death Metal band Stages of Decomposition is unleashing upon humanity their highly anticipated sophomore studio offering, titled Raptures of Psychopathy, threatening to burrow into your brain like a death metal worm and liquefy it with brutal riffs, chaotic blast beats and adrenaline-invoking time signatures that convey the terror and psychological aspects of the stories told. Recorded by the band’s own guitarist Marco Aromatario, mixed and mastered by Manuel Acevedo at Beatcrusher Recording Studio, and displaying a horror-fueled artwork by Tony Cosgrove (with design by Sidjimbe Art), the album is an eleven-track beast that delves into the disturbed minds of those falling into psychopathic tendencies, with each song encapsulating the murderous essence of true crime, drawing inspiration from infamous figures like Vaughn Greenwood, Richard Ramirez, Jeffrey Dahmer, and more, all brought into being by Salvador Rodriguez on vocals and bass, Cesar Barajas and Marco Aromatario on the guitars, and Daniel Smoo on drums, highly influenced by the raw intensity of Dying Fetus, the brutality of Suffocation, and the slam-infused chaos of Kraanium.

Offering a glimpse inside the mind of Jeffrey Dahmer, the opening tune Drilling of the Cerebellum presents an initial narration full of gore and horror that evolves into a feast of bestiality led by the demented drumming by Daniel, kicking off the album on a beyond violent mode; and Cesar and Marco show no mercy for their stringed axes, extracting bloodthirsty riffs in What Lies Within while Salvador barks and roars like a maniac nonstop. And Salvador continues to haunt our souls with his avalanche of “bree breee breeeeees” in Beast of Jersey, while his bandmates make sure the atmosphere remains as gory and visceral as possible in a fun and vibrant onrush of Brutal Death Metal. Then we have Killing Under Possession, sounding absolutely infernal from the very first second, with Daniel sounding inhumane behind his drums, therefore inviting us all to slam like true metalmaniacs inside a blood-drenched circle pit; whereas there’s not a single second to breathe as Stages of Decomposition will mercilessly bludgeon your cranial skull to pieces in Murder by Proxy, again showcasing the slashing riffage by Cesar and Marco.

Skid Row Slasher is another headbanging extravaganza spearheaded by the deep, visceral roars and barks by Salvador, who also makes sure the earth trembles armed with his rumbling bass, and just when you think the quartet couldn’t sound more demented they will decimate your senses with Carve Out the Eyes, a fast and no shenanigans Brutal Death Metal assault that should sound amazing if played live. After such demonic onrush, the band adds elements from the Thrash Metal played by Slayer to their core Death Metal, resulting in a high-octane, mosh pit party titled Fetal Devourment, with Daniel once again stealing the spotlight with his pulverizing beats and fills; whereas Crawl Space Burial is a solid creation by the band where Salvador keeps vociferating like a rabid beast in the name of gore and extreme music. Then enhancing their animosity to a whole new level we have Human Extermination, a well-balanced, demonic fusion of classic Death Metal with Brutal Death Metal, followed by Mass Psychosis, offering us all two intense minutes of evil Death Metal for our vulgar delectation, hammering our souls with their crushing drums, venomous riffs and the always vile guttural by Salvador until the very last second.

Get ready to be swept away by the savage and brutal Death Metal blasted by Stages of Decomposition in their new album, available for purchase by clicking HERE (and for streaming on YouTube and on Spotify), delivering an onslaught of ferocious guitar work, pounding drums, and guttural vocals, creating an atmosphere of unbridled aggression, and you can also show your support to their undisputed violence by also following the band on Facebook and on Instagram. The band’s brand new opus of real-life horror-infused Brutal Death Metal will be the perfect soundtrack for your lone night walks through desert streets and obscure alleys, but I’m pretty sure if you’re listening to it at top volume or sporting a Stages of Decomposition shirt you’ll be one hundred percent  safe, as no serial killer will dare to attack you after noticing your amazing taste in music.

Album Review – Display of Decay / Vitriol (2023)

Edmonton, Canada’s own Death Metal machine is back with their demolishing fourth full-length album, paying homage to the brutal and aggressive roots of the genre.

Prepare for an unrelenting assault on your senses as Edmonton, Alberta’s very own Brutal Death Metal titans Display of Decay unleash their latest opus, titled Vitriol. Drawing inspiration from the early Death Metal pioneers like Cannibal Corpse, Malevolent Creation and Cryptopsy, Display of Decay have crafted an album that pays homage to the brutal and aggressive roots of the genre while infusing their own unique sickness into the mix. Produced by the band itself, mixed and mastered by Christian Donaldson of Cryptopsy, and displaying a sick cover art by Caelan Stokkermans, Vitriol is an auditory journey into a realm of relentless brutality, where thundering drums, guttural vocals, and savage guitar riffs converge to create a sonic onslaught that leaves no room for compromise, all masterfully crafted by Sean Watson on vocals and guitar, Brandon Siefert on bass and Logan Wilson on drums, resulting in the perfect follow-up to their 2018 album Art in Mutilation.

Sean shows no mercy for his guitar in Malicious Motorcide, delivering dirty, devilish riffs while Logan crushes his drums nonstop in the name of Death Metal, resulting in an aggressive way to kick off the album by those three marauders followed by The Butcher, even heavier and more obscure, where Sean continues to vociferate like a demon while Brandon and Logan make sure the atmosphere remains as dense as possible with their respective bass punches and hammering drums. Their fusion of brutality and rage will set fire to the music in Legion of Doom, with Brandon’s bass sounding utterly metallic while Sean shreds his guitar in great fashion until the very last second. And Familial Feast is another no shenanigans, in-you-face display of classic Death Metal infused with Brutal Death Metal elements, inviting us all to slam into the pit to the manic roars by Sean and the always demented drums by Logan.

Get ready for another sonic attack courtesy of Display of Decay titled Harbinger, where Logan brings his heavy artillery to the music contributing to make it even more perverse and insane, not to mention the putrid guttural by Sean; and featuring guest drummer Tyson Travnik (Gatekeeper, Striker, Ironstorm), the band brings forward more of their caustic Death Metal in the form of Hot Lead Vengeance, with Tyson stealing the show with a very technical yet violent performance. It’s time for Sean to slash our ears with his dirty riffage in Slaughtercast, perfect for some vigorous headbanging until your neck can’t take it anymore, keeping the album at a high level of animosity; whereas Tyson Travnik returns with his infernal, demolishing beats in the title-track Vitriol, putting a pulverizing ending to the album while Sean barks and growls in them most gruesome and demented way you can imagine.

Vitriol, which is available for a full and detailed listen on YouTube and on Spotify, definitely represents a step forward in the career of those Canadian metallers, cementing their name in the local scene and helping them spread their music all across the world. Hence, you can keep updated with all things Display of Decay by following them on Facebook and on Instagram, by subscribing to their YouTube channel, and of course by purchasing a copy of the vicious Vitriol by clicking HERE or HERE. Brutal Death Metal made in Canada is on the rise, and we must thank bands like Display of Decay for their relentless work in the name of extreme music, always offering us all top-of-the-line albums like their latest opus.

Album Review – Swine Overlord / Parables of Umbral Transcendence (2014)

Get ready for 40 minutes of sheer savagery with this Guttural Brutal Slamming Death Metal band from the United States.

Rating5

SwineOverlordcdcover000If you’re one of those people who feel something is not right if you suddenly start yawning while listening to a heavy music album, no matter which song is playing, consequently changing the music to something more berserk, then Parables of Umbral Transcendence, the debut album by American Guttural Brutal Slamming Death Metal band Swine Overlord might be exactly what you need to feed your inner beast, always eager for the meanest type of metal you can think of.

Formed in December 2011 under the name Malignant Abomination, what once started as a project quickly evolved to a more serious and professional band, changing the name to Hypoxic and then one last time to Swine Overlord. On Halloween of 2012, the band released their first EP entitled Anthologies of Abomination (re-released in 2013 by Gore House Productions), and now in 2014 they’re finally releasing a full-length album which overflows furious riffs, blasting beats and blood-curdling vocals, including special appearances by guitarist/vocalist Mike O’Hara (Splattered Entrails), vocalist Josh Smith (Gutfucked), Hunter Pate, and vocalist Richard “Yeti” Kirk (Abdicate).

Swine Overlord’s  bestial sonic assault starts with Celestial Purge, with its Cannibal Corpse-ish riffs and drums as fast as a machine gun, followed by the even more insane Transformation and Rebirth, where the guttural vocals reach some really deep notes. This song is pure slamming and as brutal as one can imagine, which makes me wonder how just three musicians can generate so much violence in such a short period of time. Although the instrumental track Convergence slows things down a bit, even with its strong bass lines, it ends up working more like an intro to the next song, Post-Burial Defloration, which “desperate” sonority will be too disturbing for people not used to this type of music. Moreover, pay attention to the excellent double bass by drummer Devin Alford and to the last part of the song, these details are both very important to its overall quality.

Falsum Messias keeps up with the sheer brutality by Swine Overlord with its more melodic guitar lines, becoming some pure headbanging after two minutes, while Bleeding the Sinful is indeed a great song for fans of brutal music, with its vocals sounding so vile and devilish sometimes it can be really disturbing for the faint of heart. That can also be said about Chunks, where the whole band keeps the energy bar high with another technical and brutal performance. How amazingly violent would this song sound during a live concert?

Swine O PicThe next part of the album is composed by the excellent Cadaveric Pantomime, a song full of fuckin’ awesome riffs by guitarist Will Peplinski, in which Swine Overlord managed to sound even heavier than all previous tracks; Umbral Transcendence, with its heavy bass intro and more of the band’s characteristic brutal drumming and vocals; and the nice rhythmic breaks in Dissiliency, with highlights to the awesome job done by drummer Devin Alford, giving the song a lot more intensity.

Lastly, those North American metallers still have fuel left for more insanity with the violent Porkchop, The Man-Butcher (an interesting name for a song, by the way), where riffs and vocals go along flawlessly, followed by the headbanging track Dismantling the Flesh Construct, and finally what can be considered the darkest song of the entire album, Seeds of a Treacherous Creation, where it’s very interesting to follow the fast drumming blended with more obscure passages, and once again terrific guttural vocals that sound like if singer Anthony Davis was possessed by a demon.

In summary, with Parables of Umbral Transcendence, which is available for purchase at the official Gore House Productions webshop and as a digital album at the Gore House Productions BandCamp page, Swine Overlord summarize everything one needs to know about cruelty and brutality in 40 minutes of very raw and technical Death Metal. Furthermore, if they keep loyal to their principles and maintain that level of quality in their ruthless musicality, we will surely start seeing those guys kicking ass in different cities, venues and festivals pretty soon, injecting some much needed violence to the music industry, especially to the boring and stale U.S. market.

Best moments of the album: Celestial Purge, Falsum Messias and Cadaveric Pantomime.

Worst moments of the album: Convergence and Umbral Transcendence.
