Emerging from the boiling bowels of horrendous vomit and uncompromising gore, this unrelenting Italian Goregrind brigade will attack armed with their filthy sophomore album.

Emerging from the boiling bowels of horrendous vomit and uncompromising gore, the unrelenting Italian Goregrind brigade Golem Of Gore is finally back with their most faceted, dramatic yet filthier work, entitled Ultimo Mondo Cane, or “last dog world” in English, a monstrous battle hymn for all the gore freaks out there. Recorded by Marco Carboni, mixed and mastered by Davide Guerri (with vinyl mastered by Carlo Altobelli at Toxic Basement Studio), and displaying a sick artwork by James Wilson with collage art by Adam Medford, the sophomore album by vocalist Riki, guitarist Marco, bassist Bonne, and drummer Dave is an overdose of savagery and blast beats, proving only gore is real and, of course, being recommended for admirers of the music by Last Days Of Humanity, Regurgitate, Pissgrave, and Caustic Wound, among several others bringers of gore worldwide.

The album starts with the cryptic, devilish movie-like intro Cruelty Abounds On This Planet, opening the gates of horror and gore and, therefore, letting Golem of Gore invade our world and kill us all in The Fragrance Of Pus – Filled Eyes of the Dead, with Riki’s demented, deep guttural sounding absolutely bestial. In Regurgitated Entrails With Intense Mortification the name of the song says it all, offering an overdose of savagery led by the insane drums by Dave; whereas guest Gabri from Terror Firmer delivers screaming devastation in Withdrawal Crisis – Through the Keyhole of Madness, elevating its gore and insanity considerably. The visceral riffs by Marco will slash your entrails in In The Cold Room Of My Restaurant, You Are Dog Food, while in L’isola maledetta – Immersed In A Formaldehyde Coffin all members of Slug Gore (those being Amianto, Fuoco and Sbocco) unite for total gore and devastation. The Slasher in Black Latex – Acrid Aroma In Tenebris is the perfect depiction of the band’s infuriated blend of Grindcore, whereas A Prayer From The Filthy Creatures Of The Deep presents one and a half minute of brutal slamming led by the demented drumming by Dave, which is also the case in Buried in Feces – Ultimo Mondo Cane.

Then we face the spine-chilling interlude La Montagna della Dea Cannibale before guest Tom from Haggus spews filth in Chronic Obstructive Caustic Vomit, a ruthless, wild display of Goregrind perfect for slamming into the pit like a true metalmaniac. Fucked By The Shovel, Thrown Into Violent Screams is another song with a charming name displaying the always gruesome roars by Riki, followed by Methamphetamine – Drenched In Piss And Gore, another minute of pure Grindcore with their riffs and blast beats sounding inhumane. The two part song formed of Through The Gates of Hell – Una tomba aperta and Back From The Gates of Hell – Una bara vuota showcases a band that only knows the language of gore; followed by The Final Feast of the Damned – Tre Passi nel delirio, with Marco and Bonne destroying their stringed axes. Cannibal Banquet for the Lord of Flies – Maggots Throne is an ode to the most putrid and horrid Italian horror movies, offering excellence in pure gore and heaviness, before all comes to an end with Senza Uscita – Worse Than Reality, a virulent, putrid outro that will haunt your damned souls for all eternity.

Album Review – Tormentor Tyrant / Excessive Escalation Of Cruelty (2025)

This seasoned trio of musicians from Finland will crush you with their first full-length album, one of the most savage, grinding, furious and primordial Death Metal releases you could face this year.

An ageless entity of evil featuring members from Corpsessed, Solothus, Tyranny, Profetus and Cataleptic, drawing musical influences from Death Metal’s first steps into existence, Helsinki/Järvenpää, Finland based Tormentor Tyrant will leave no survivors with their full-frontal assault of sonic devastation to the sound of their first full-length offering, titled Excessive Escalation Of Cruelty. Recorded at Furnace 5034 and Rehearsalucifer Studios, produced by Tormentor Tyrant, mastered by The Hand of Doom at Toxic Basement Studio, and displaying a sick artwork by Roni Ärling (with layout by Giorgio Spevo of Everlasting Spew Records), the new album by vocalist and guitarist S.Envenom, bassist and vocalist M.Malignant, and drummer J.Carnage is perfect for fans of Deicide, Malevolent Creation, Skeletal Remains, and Laceration, among others, resulting in one of the most savage, grinding, furious and primordial Death Metal releases you could face this year.

The Mephistophelean intro Upheaval Of Tyranny will transport you to the ruthless world ruled by Tormentor Tyrant in Capital Of Pain, offering us all a little more than two minutes of pure savagery led by the inhumane, demented roars by S.Envenom, and let’s keep slamming into the mosh pit to the sound of Torture Divine, where J.Carnage doesn’t stop hammering his drums not even for a single second. Their feast of violence has no time to end, with Tartarean Iron Grip presenting their most destructive side thanks to another bestial performance by J.Carnage on drums; and the trio sounds absolutely merciless and possessed in Crueler Tomorrow, with M.Malignant blasting his bass nonstop while also roaring manically.

In Pit of Anguish, there’s nothing else to do but diving into the circle pit like a true metalmaniac to the demonic vocals by S.Envenom and the band’s vile riffs and classic Death Metal solos, followed by Cosmic Wild Hunt, a brutal and demented display of Finnish Death Metal where their riffs, blast beats and infernal guttural roars sound perfect for some action during their live performances. Then it feels like they’re even more infuriated in Terminal Revelation, with the ruthless drums by J.Carnage providing S.Envenom with the exact level of violence needed to distill his visceral growls; whereas Heavy Death Bombardment, the last song of the album, is just as insane as all previous tracks, where S.Envenom and M.Malignant are beasts incarnate with their riffs and solos.

A one-man studio Death Metal act drawing influence from all dark corners of the extreme music realm, New Jersey, United States-based entity Engulf is back with its catchy riffs, gnarly vocals and brutish yet dark vibes in the project’s massive and savage debut full-length album, titled The Dying Planet Weeps. Recorded, mixed and mastered by Chris Kelly, mastered for vinyl by Carlo Altobelli at Toxic Basement Studio, displaying an otherwordly artwork by Pär Olofsson (with additional artwork by Chris Kiesling of Misanthropic-Art, and logo by Steve Crow of Malevolent Icons), and featuring an array of very special guest musicians, the album is the perfect follow-up to the three story-driven EP’s released between 2017 and 2019, showcasing all the talent and passion for heavy music by the project’s mastermind, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Hal Microutsicos.

Eerie, cryptic sounds permeate the air in the opening tune Withered Suns Collapse until all explodes into a Technical Death Metal attack by our lone wolf, where he not only extracts sheer violence from his riffage, but his guttural roars also bring endless insanity to the song. Then featuring guest vocals by Kevin Muller (of Alluvial), Bellows from the Aether offers more of Hal’s groovy and dissonant Death Metal, supported by the rumbling bass by session musician Giacomo Gastaldi (of Darkend); and Hal keeps hammering his instruments in The Nefarious Hive, featuring guest vocals by the one and only Sven de Caluwé (of Aborted), who delivers his deep, inhumane growls as expected, making a devilish vocal duo with Hal. After such inspiring metal attack, Ominous Grandeur brings elements from Doom and Black Metal to Engulf’s already demonic sonority, resulting in over five minutes of insanity and heaviness where the bass by Giacomo sounds absolutely rumbling until the very end.

The second half of the album will hit you hard in the head with its even heavier and more venomous sounds, starting with Lunar Scourge, a brutal and evil attack of Death Metal by Hal with its blast beats and sick riffage inviting us all to join Engulf in pitch black darkness, whereas Plagued Oblivion, featuring a guest guitar solo by Pat Bonvin (of Near Death Condition), reminds me of some of the wicked creations by Death Metal veterans Unleashed, also presenting some sick elements from Black Metal in its riffs. Then featuring guest vocals by Enrico “H.” Di Lorenzo (of Hideous Divinity) and a guest guitar solo by Chris Kelly, Earthbore is a six-minute journey through the realms of cryptic and savage Death Metal, starting in a serene manner before morphing into a Dissonant Death Metal extravaganza led by the wicked riffs by Hal, flowing into the title-track The Dying Planet Weeps, an extended instrumental outro that follows the same pattern of the previous song, but that takes away a bit of the album’s energy due to its length.
